Expressing itself in many ways (physical or psychological), or in many contexts (family, workplace or school), violence against women is an unacceptable violation of its victims human rights, which are the foundation of the democratic rule of law.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size:13.0pt;150%\">In this day, the Ombudsman of Portugal expresses her firm and strong will to prevent and combat all forms of violence and discrimination, particularly violence and discrimination towards women and girls, in order to assimilate and achieve a culture of respect for the fundamental rights of all people without exception.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size:13.0pt;150%\">To mark this date, the Ombudsman of Portugal joins in to the national campaign <i>nem mais um minuto de sil&ecirc;ncio<\/i>, promoted by the Portuguese Government in partnership with some of the most emblematic non-governmental organizations in the sector and with the participation of several entities such as the Public Prosecutor, as well with the international campaign <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/events\/endviolenceday\/\"><i><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size:13.0pt;line-height:150%\">Orange the World<\/span><\/i><\/a><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size:13.0pt;150%\">, developed by the United Nations Secretary General&rsquo; <i>UNiTE initiative to end violence against women<\/i>, that in 2017 the motto is <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/endviolence.un.org\/\"><i><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size:13.0pt;line-height:150%\">Leave no one behind: end violence against women and girls<\/span><\/i><\/a><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size:13.0pt;line-height:150%\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><!-- RS_MODULE_CODE_2.5.3 --> <\/p>\n<div id=\"readspeaker_button18488\" class=\"rs_skip rs_preserve\"><a class=\"rs_href\" title=\"Ouvir com ReadSpeaker\" href=\"https:\/\/app-eu.readspeaker.com\/cgi-bin\/rsent?customerid=6394&amp;lang=pt_pt&amp;readid=rspeak_read_18488&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.provedor-jus.pt%2Fen%2Fwp-json%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fposts%2F18488\" onclick=\"readpage(this.href, 'xp18488'); return false;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.provedor-jus.pt\/wp-content\/plugins\/enterprise_expanding_hl_wordpress-2x\/img\/icon_16px.gif\" alt=\"Ouvir com ReadSpeaker\" style=\"display: inline-block; margin-right: 5px;\"\/>Ouvir<\/a><\/div>\n<div id=\"xp18488\" class=\"rs_addtools rs_splitbutton rs_preserve rs_skip rs_exp\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"rspeak_read_18488\">On November 25th, the national and international community is marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1999.
