The expression referring specifically to people with HIV\/AIDS was classified as clearly discriminatory and without any clinical basis.<\/p>\n<p>At that time, the Ombudsman informed the National Association of Portuguese Municipalities (ANMP) of its position, requesting its disclosure to the Associated Municipalities, which had endorsed it in a significant number.<\/p>\n<p>In December 2018, however, the Ombudsman received a similar complaint, and contacted ANMP again, in collaboration with this State body to evaluate the best strategy, to clarify that the conditioning of admission to swimming pools should be limited to presentation of medical examination proving the physical fitness of the practitioner.<\/p>\n<p>With this appeal, the Ombudsman joins the United Nations-led global movement, which this year challenges institutions and citizens to act against laws that, when ill-informed, unfounded or prejudiced, produce discrimination, and subject people to undue restrictions on their life choices.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><!-- RS_MODULE_CODE_2.5.3 --> <\/p>\n<div id=\"readspeaker_button18521\" class=\"rs_skip rs_preserve\"><a class=\"rs_href\" title=\"Ouvir com ReadSpeaker\" href=\"https:\/\/app-eu.readspeaker.com\/cgi-bin\/rsent?customerid=6394&amp;lang=pt_pt&amp;readid=rspeak_read_18521&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.provedor-jus.pt%2Fen%2Fwp-json%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fposts%2F18521\" onclick=\"readpage(this.href, 'xp18521'); return false;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.provedor-jus.pt\/wp-content\/plugins\/enterprise_expanding_hl_wordpress-2x\/img\/icon_16px.gif\" alt=\"Ouvir com ReadSpeaker\" style=\"display: inline-block; margin-right: 5px;\"\/>Ouvir<\/a><\/div>\n<div id=\"xp18521\" class=\"rs_addtools rs_splitbutton rs_preserve rs_skip rs_exp\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"rspeak_read_18521\">On the day of the Zero Discrimination, which is highlighted today, the Ombudsman, Maria L&uacute;cia Amaral, draws attention to the fact that complaints about municipal swimming pools that condition access to people with HIV\/AIDS continue to arrive.
