Raising still deep concern are the high number of cases of domestic violence and systemic problems affecting the Portuguese prison system.<\/p>\n<p>This was, in summary, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.provedor-jus.pt\/documentos\/Declaracao_UPR.pdf\">position of the Ombudsperson<\/a>, Maria L&uacute;cia Amaral, transmitted during the pre-session of the Universal Periodic Review of the United Nations Human Rights Council, dedicated to Portugal.
