{"id":18545,"date":"2019-05-31T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-05-31T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.provedor-jus.pt\/ombudsman-marks-childrens-day\/"},"modified":"2020-12-10T21:26:38","modified_gmt":"2020-12-10T20:26:38","slug":"ombudsman-marks-childrens-day-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.provedor-jus.pt\/en\/ombudsman-marks-childrens-day-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Ombudsman marks Children&#8217;s Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<!-- RS_MODULE_CODE_2.5.3 --> <div id=\"readspeaker_button18545\" class=\"rs_skip rs_preserve\"><a class=\"rs_href\" title=\"Ouvir com ReadSpeaker\" href=\"https:\/\/app-eu.readspeaker.com\/cgi-bin\/rsent?customerid=6394&amp;lang=pt_pt&amp;readid=rspeak_read_18545&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.provedor-jus.pt%2Fen%2Fwp-json%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fposts%2F18545\" onclick=\"readpage(this.href, 'xp18545'); return false;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.provedor-jus.pt\/wp-content\/plugins\/enterprise_expanding_hl_wordpress-2x\/img\/icon_16px.gif\" alt=\"Ouvir com ReadSpeaker\" style=\"display: inline-block; margin-right: 5px;\"\/>Ouvir<\/a><\/div><div id=\"xp18545\" class=\"rs_addtools rs_splitbutton rs_preserve rs_skip rs_exp\"><\/div><div id=\"rspeak_read_18545\"><p>The promotion and defense of the rights of the child are fundamental tasks of the State and of the community, being assumed not only as ethical duties, but also as obligations that have already reached the juridical level, based on national and international instruments.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, celebrating the day of the child implies to affirm its singularity as a holder of autonomous rights, specifically recognized to meet the special needs demanded by the different stages of development of childhood and adolescence.<\/p>\n<p>But celebrating a child&#8217;s day also requires looking beyond the existing legal framework and entering the concrete plane of life where challenges to the realization of rights materialize in the daily lives of so many children and so many families.<\/p>\n<p>For this reason, the Ombudsman, as the National Human Rights Institution, has produced a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.provedor-jus.pt\/documentos\/Rel_Alternativo_CRC.pdf\">report <\/a>on the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the occasion of the presentation of the 5th and 6th national reports for the 82nd session of the Committee on the Rights of the Child, to be held in Geneva from 9 to 27 September 2019.
