At the same time, the Memorandum of Understanding will allow the IOI to implement information campaigns so that UN bodies and representatives can better understand the Ombudsman concept and the broad mandate it holds in the various regions of the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maria L\u00facia Amaral was elected, in 2020, to the Board of the European Region and, simultaneously, to the IOI&#8217;s international Board of Directors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Established in 1978, the IOI is the only globally oriented organization for ombudsman cooperation. Its membership includes not only the Ombudsmen (institutional members), but also other persons or agencies which, while not holding this capacity, are interested or involved in related activities (associate members).
