Boyd, on 21 September, in the scope of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ohchr.org\/en\/media-advisories\/2022\/09\/portugal-un-expert-assess-environmental-impacts-human-rights\">his official visit to Portugal<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The meeting was part of the round of contacts with a view to evaluating the Portuguese State&#8217;s compliance with its obligations to give effect to the right to the environment, as an internationally recognized human right, and focused on issues that have prompted the Ombudsman&#8217;s intervention, namely forest fires, water distribution and territorial planning, especially along the coastline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ohchr.org\/en\/special-procedures\/sr-environment\/david-r-boyd\">Special Rapporteur<\/a> will present a full report on his visit to Portugal to the UN Human Rights Council in March 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"352\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/www.provedor-jus.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/image-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28633\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.provedor-jus.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/image-1.png 352w, https:\/\/www.provedor-jus.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/image-1-211x300.png 211w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 352px) 100vw, 352px\" \/><figcaption>David R.
