{"id":32221,"date":"2025-02-21T16:39:25","date_gmt":"2025-02-21T16:39:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.provedor-jus.pt\/?p=32221"},"modified":"2025-02-21T17:10:12","modified_gmt":"2025-02-21T17:10:12","slug":"ombudsperson-in-bissau-to-prepare-presentation-of-the-cplp-human-rights-network-to-ganhri","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.provedor-jus.pt\/en\/ombudsperson-in-bissau-to-prepare-presentation-of-the-cplp-human-rights-network-to-ganhri\/","title":{"rendered":"Ombudsperson in Bissau to prepare presentation of the CPLP Human Rights Network to GANHRI"},"content":{"rendered":"<!-- RS_MODULE_CODE_2.5.3 --> <div id=\"readspeaker_button32221\" class=\"rs_skip rs_preserve\"><a class=\"rs_href\" title=\"Ouvir com ReadSpeaker\" href=\"https:\/\/app-eu.readspeaker.com\/cgi-bin\/rsent?customerid=6394&amp;lang=pt_pt&amp;readid=rspeak_read_32221&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.provedor-jus.pt%2Fen%2Fwp-json%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fposts%2F32221\" onclick=\"readpage(this.href, 'xp32221'); return false;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.provedor-jus.pt\/wp-content\/plugins\/enterprise_expanding_hl_wordpress-2x\/img\/icon_16px.gif\" alt=\"Ouvir com ReadSpeaker\" style=\"display: inline-block; margin-right: 5px;\"\/>Ouvir<\/a><\/div><div id=\"xp32221\" class=\"rs_addtools rs_splitbutton rs_preserve rs_skip rs_exp\"><\/div><div id=\"rspeak_read_32221\">\n<p>In her capacity as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.provedor-jus.pt\/en\/portuguese-ombudsperson-takes-over-the-interim-presidency-of-the-cplp-human-rights-network\/\">interim president<\/a> of the CPLP Human Rights Network, the Ombudsperson, Maria L\u00facia Amaral, traveled to Bissau on February 19 and 20, where she held a series of institutional meetings with the aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation and preparing the presentation and consolidation of the Network at international level, with the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this context, the Ombudsperson met with the president of the National Human Rights Commission and the highest Guinean authorities such as the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister and government representatives responsible for foreign affairs, justice and human rights, as well as various civil society organizations and multilateral partners such as the European Union and the United Nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also during the visit, Maria L\u00facia Amaral gave an open lecture at the Faculty of Law in Bissau, on the theme \u201cThe Ombudsman: what does he do?\u201d, addressing the role and functions of the institution, followed by a well-attended debate with undergraduate students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CPLP Human Rights Network is an informal platform for cooperation between ombudsmen and national human rights institutions in the member countries of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP), promoting the exchange of good practices and strengthening the role of the ombudsman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Founded on May 28, 2013, in Lisbon, the Network is made up of the Ombudsmen of Portugal, Angola, Mozambique and East Timor, the National Human Rights Commissions of Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau and Mozambique, the Federal Prosecutor for Citizen&#8217;s Rights of Brazil, and, since 2015, the Ombudsman of Cape Verde.
