On 5 May, the Ombudsman’s Office held the first edition of \u2018Meetings at the Ombudsman’s Office\u2019, a new initiative aimed at promoting public debate on issues relevant to the exercise of rights and citizenship. The first meeting was dedicated to freedom of expression and the media, also marking World Press Freedom Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an informal format and open to the public, the debate was attended by Teresa Ribeiro (former OSCE representative for Media Freedom), Manuel Carvalho (journalist) and Pedro Lomba (university professor), invited by the Ombudsman, Maria L\u00facia Amaral.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event took place at the Vilalva Palace, the headquarters of the Ombudsman’s Office, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to openness towards society and the active promotion of a culture of human rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
