Miguel Menezes Coelho holds a degree from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon. He was the coordinator of the Legal Office of the League for the Protection of Nature and legal adviser to the office of the Board of Directors of CTT (postal services). He began his duties at the Ombudsman’s Office in 1993. He is currently coordinating the unit dealing with complaints about environmental, urban and cultural rights, as well as rights of users of essential public services. He also coordinates the Child, Elderly and Disabled Persons Department and is a member of the Coordination Commission of the National Preventive Mechanism.
