Afonso Brás

Afonso Brás holds a degree in Law (2014) and a Master’s degree in Law, with a specialisation in Constitutional Law (2023), from the University of Lisbon School of Law, where he is a Guest Lecturer and a PhD candidate. He is also a Guest Lecturer at ISEG – Lisbon School of Economics and Management. His main research areas are Constitutional Law, Fundamental Rights, Constitutional Justice, Public International Law and European Union Law. He is also an Assistant Integrated Researcher at the Lisbon Public Law Research Centre.
Among other positions, he served as an Adviser in the offices of members of the Portuguese Government from 2015 to 2019, and again in 2023. He also served as a Legal Adviser at the Portuguese Constitutional Court from 2023, working directly with its President from 2023 to May 2026.
He has authored several publications in academic journals and edited volumes in his fields of research, and has spoken at conferences and training courses in these areas. Since 2025, he has been Editor-in-Chief of the Revista Portuguesa de Direito Constitucional (RPDC).
