Deputy Ombudsperson participates in conference on Criminology and Law

Deputy Ombudsperson João Lázaro took part, on 29 September, in the closing session of the first edition of the conference «Between Criminology and Law: Three Decades of Interdisciplinary Dialogue», organised by the School of Criminology of the Faculty of Law of the University of Porto (FDUP).

Held as part of the celebrations marking FDUP’s 30th anniversary and the 20th anniversary of its Criminology degree programme, the conference brought together researchers and academics to discuss a range of topics at the intersection of Criminology and Law.

In his address, João Lázaro reflected on the role of the Portuguese Ombudsperson, particularly in its capacity as the National Preventive Mechanism, and on the increasingly central role of victims within the criminal justice system.
