E-book. Know Human Rights through the cases that come to us

As part of the commemorations of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Office of the Ombudsman – which in Portugal is the National Human Rights Institution – wrote an annotated version, illustrating each of the rights enshrined in it with cases and problems that The Ombudsman has been called upon to solve the problem over and over again. This publication, in electronic version, can be downloaded here (in Portuguese only).

"Two decades later we decided to promote a second edition of the Annotated Declaration. Through this reprint we account of our daily work, done with the tools every day, but guided by the ideals of all time", says the Ombudsman.

"With this book, we hope to able to elucidate the reader as to the nature of the issues which citizens normally bring to the Ombudsman and elucidate about the idea of justice that seeks to be ever present in our decisions", adds Maria Lúcia Amaral.
