Human Rights Day

On December 10th is celebrated the Universal Declaration of Human Rights’ anniversary which was proclaimed in 1948 by the United Nations General Assembly.
Signed after the end of the Second World War, the universalist vision of the Declaration is anchored in the inviolability of the human person dignity principle and in the collective goal of promoting and respecting human rights, which remains fully current.
The Ombudsman of Portugal, who has been entrusted the special mission of promoting and defending citizen’s fundamental rights, expresses, once again, her determination to collaborate through a close action, for the recognition, respect and fulfillment of all people’s rights.
This year, the Human Rights Day is marking the beginning of the Declaration 70th anniversary. In 2018, the Ombudsman of Portugal will carry out a wide range of initiatives, having this celebration in the background and the human rights main subjects.
